Chockie Chip Hemp Heart Cookies

Chockie Chip Hemp Heart Cookies

Cook Time: 15 mins

This recipe has a great yield if you’ve got a bunch of hungry kids in the house. Makes 3-4 dozen large cookies so they won’t be gone on the first day! If you love an extra hempy flavour in your cookies, gently toast the hemp hearts first. If you don’t happen to have chocolate chips you can swap them out for raisins or sultanas! In this cookie recipe, we have used vegan-certified Kiwi Hemp Hearts

  • 1 cup softened butter (around 225gms).
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tsp water (preferably hot)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup hemp hearts (hemp hearts can be toasted for extra flavour)
  • Optional: Extra hemp hearts for decoration

  1. Preheat oven to 175C – do not be tempted to increase the heat
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Dissolve baking soda in hot water, add to cookie dough with salt
  5. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and hemp hearts.
  6. Roll into balls (around a dessert spoon full of mixture), a dozen at a time on a baking tray… no more or they will run together
  7. Dip the balls into some hemp hearts for decoration before baking (optional)
  8. Bake for around 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned. If you’ve made bigger balls, they could take 12-15 mins.
